Thin Place

Thin Place was an exhibition, publication, symposium and education programme curated by Ciara Healy in 2015 for Oriel Myrddin Gallery, Wales.

Artists included Jonathan Anderson, Adam Buick, Ailbhe Ni Bhriain, Christine Mackey, Flora Parrott.

The publication included essays by Poet Cherry Smyth; Astrophysicist Dr Haley Gomez; Psychotherapist Mark Jones and Franciscan Brother Dr Joseph MacMahon.

The symposium included presentations by Dr. George Nash, Archaeologist and specialist in Prehistoric and Contemporary Art; Dr. Ruth Jones, Artist and Curator; Lorraine Flaherty NLP & Hypnotherapist; Jonathan Sammon, Visual Artist and Filmmaker; Professor Mary Modeen, Artist and Associate Dean University of Dundee; Serena Korda, Visual Artist and Dr Iain Biggs, Visual Artist & Cultural Geographer.

The education programme included a screening of the 1998 film After Life by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda; a book club reading and discussion of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods; Children’s book making and creative writing workshops and finally a children’s creative writing competition open to children aged 7– 10 years who live in Wales. The winning review was published in the Carmarthen Journal.
